Salmon Trout

The Salmon Trout is another success story of farming.  This fish with beautiful silvery and white skin color is not only very popular seafood item in Europe and USA, but is actually one of the most important sushi items in Japan.
Furthermore, this particular fish is also consumed cooked, and is in that way, dual purpose raw material in the fish industry.  Grilled and salted is a great way of enjoying this item. The fish originally being popular as a wild fish, is now widely farmed in both Norway, Sweden, Finland, Faroe Islands, Denmark and Chile.

Its Dark red/orange meat is a main selling point in Japan, but obviously the texture and flavor are also to the liking of the Japanese sashimi/sushi consumer.

On a headed gutted (h/g) basis, the Japanese market goes through roughly 100 thousand tons per year of this particular specie.  Atlantis is proud to be a major marketeer of this popular specie.
