CSF sustainable Albacore Tuna (Thunnus alalunga), respect and works under The Australian Fisheries Management Authority (AFMA, www.afma.gov.au) which is  strongly committed to the conservation of marine ecosystems and biodiversity by promoting the sustainable use of Australia fisheries resources.

AFMA aims not only for healthy fish stocks, but to manage fishing in a way that takes into account effects on the broader marine environment. Through a number of policies and fishery specific management arrangements they ensure that licensed fishers take appropriate steps to minimise their impact on the ecosystem. They have established a framework to ensure that obligations in relation to the marine environment are met. In the process they consult with experts for strategic advice on environmental issues. These experts include conservation members on fishery Management Advisory Committees and a specialised AFMA Environment Committee

For that reason, when possible we will work with governments, peers, business partners, employees and the community to promote environmentally sustainable practices through specialized training and communication programs.

We engage operations which have both a direct and indirect impact on the environment. Consequently, in order to continuously decrease the company’s direct environmental impact, we will:

• Deal with environmental issues in a responsible manner i.e. conservation of water and energy resources, pollution reduction; and when possible the recycle of paper, plastic and fish waste among others.
• Stimulate within the company an attitude of a long-term perspective towards environmental issues and the positive co-relation between taking responsibility for the environment and profitability in order to provide added value to employees, investors and the society.
• Integrate environmental considerations in the decision-making processes of the company so that the opportunities and environmental risks are taken into consideration from an environmental and community well-being perspective.
• Support research projects related to the fish industry and ecological matters.
• Comply with the applicable regulations and conventions regarding the environment.
